If you’ve been following our bright summer Color Theory Series, you know we have had one style edict in mind: Let color be your sartorial muse. We’ve built chic capsule collections around Digital Lavender, Fiery Red and Lime Green. But we’ve saved our favorite hue for the final installment of the series: Barbie Blue. And it’s just in time for the hotly anticipated Barbie movie debuting this month starring Margot Robbie in the title role as saccharin style icon along with Ryan Gosling playing the role of chiseled, preppy Ken.

The movie, directed by Greta Gerwig (the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind both Lady Bird and Little Women), has created a fashion frenzy for all things Barbie and her iconic pink hue, cementing the Internet’s love with all things Barbiecore.

But Barbie Blue plays an equally important role in the Barbieverse as the dreamy sky blue hue has always served as the signature backdrop to Barbie’s bubblegum bright world, coloring everything from background images to clothing and furniture and rooms in her Dream House. Gerwig has doubled down on these saturated pinks and blues for the film and given the Mermaid Barbie character — played by pop star Dua Lipa — the royal cerulean treatment with lustrous, hip-length azure locks paired with a metallic blue bikini top and tail.

So, fittingly, we had to put together a beach bag capsule collection fit for both Mermaids and Mermen. While we happen to be huge fans of Barbie and her crew, you don’t have to be a Barbie devotee to rock any of these fantastic hues.
